Hilltop Community Suppers is an outreach effort offering a free delicious, healthy meal served in a sit-down restaurant style, although freewill donations will also be accepted at each supper to help sustain the meals. The suppers are open to any one in the community who would enjoy a warm, home-cooked meal and/or a welcoming social experience. At the heart of these dinners is hospitality: a welcome to all and a call to serve. Rather than a soup kitchen, these dinners hope to build a diverse community around the table, living out our core values of loving God, loving others and welcoming all. See the Daily Herald 5/12/16 article
These suppers also respond to many – often hidden – needs within our community, including food insecurity and social isolation. They have a long and successful history amongst a grouping of churches in St. Charles, Geneva and Batavia, as they coordinated to offer these meals six times a month at six different locations. The meals have been described as transformative, eye-opening and God-filled by those who have participated, and we are hoping that we can help lead the way in building a similar collection of churches in our area. We are grateful for the exceptional work that so many have done to prepare us for this new opportunity – thank you! See the Daily Herald 9/7/17 article
Hilltop Community Suppers are a multifaceted program with many opportunities to contribute. Some areas include: table set up and take down, food pick-up and delivery, baking, cooking, food preparation, grant writing, shopping, greeting, waiting and bussing tables (done by middle school students), decorating, hosting tables, requesting donations from businesses, getting the word out to participants and volunteers and much more!
If you believe you can help now or if you are interested in being contacted to help in the coming months, please contact our Office Manager, Chris Awe, at 847-426-2161 ext. 202 or e-mail her at email@example.com, and let us know you would like to be included in the Hilltop Suppers process.
Thank you for your interest in this project. We are looking forward to the weeks, months and years ahead!
