What to Expect
No matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are always welcome here. We are an open, welcoming, joyful congregation, deeply rooted in Dundee but focused on the future. Simply put, we believe church is a place where we can get together, get inspired, and get to work.
Arriving
The main entrance to the church is located under the white canopy, accessible from the parking lots across the street from the West Dundee Public Works Department. When you arrive, you will be warmly welcomed by our greeters. The Sanctuary, where we worship, is on the same floor, directly across from the main entrance. Our Ushers who greet you there will be happy to answer your questions. Our church is wheelchair accessible.
Parking
The parking lot can be accessed from entrances on Angle Tarn Rd and located on the NW corner of South Eighth Street and Angle Tarn Road. Handicapped parking is located nearest to the church entrance.
Accessibility
Our building is made up of two levels. The Sanctuary, Nursery, Offices, community kitchen, bathrooms, and where we gather for fellowship after worship are all on the main floor. All of these spaces are accessible by walker and wheelchair. Sunday School and Preschool classrooms are located on the lower level. You can reach these by taking either the stairs or the elevator. Our elevator can be found in the main lobby near the staircase.
Church Office
The church offices are located on the first floor, in the east wing of the building. Office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Our Church Office Manager is Chris Awe. She can be reached at (847) 426-2161.
In the Sanctuary
Friendly ushers will meet you as you enter the Sanctuary with a program, or bulletin, that contains the order of worship, the hymns, and the scripture reading for the day. They are also able to answer any questions you might have. Sit wherever you like. In the pews, you will find a Welcome Card, with a place for you to share your name and contact information, as well as any questions you may have for the pastors. You are invited to fill that out and turn it in at the Welcome Table at the end of service to receive a Thank You gift for visiting with us.
Worship
Our 10:00 AM service is grounded in thousands of years of tradition, but also fresh and relevant, bringing the best of classic and contemporary worship elements together. It features our wonderful Chancel Choir, Bell Choirs and other musical ensembles and instrumentalists.
Children and Youth
During the 10:00 AM service, children are invited to Sunday School (3-year old's – 5th Grade).
Teenagers have their own Bible Study, so may stay in worship, or may help with younger grades. We offer professionally staffed childcare for children newborn through kindergarten.
Fellowship
Please join us after worship for coffee, snacks and fellowship. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet some new folks, and to ask any questions you may have. Stop by the Welcome Table for more information about The First Congregational Church of Dundee.
